During the training, children gain more insight into their learning behavior so that they can ultimately adjust themselves as independently as possible. The parents and teacher also gain more insight into the learning behavior of the child, so that they can support them in a targeted manner. The adaptive training of the working memory capacity is combined with the teaching of learning strategies regarding attention, planning, working memory, goal-oriented and task-oriented behavior. During the training, the child is continuously reminded of the approach and working method, so that a child learns to reflect on him or herself and to self regulate. A child also learns to deal with his/her weaker functions in a (different/more skillful) way, so that he/she is less bothered by it in the day to day.
In our experience most children enjoy doing the exercises. A lot of attention is also paid to giving effective, positive feedback to motivate the child.
