For over 10 years, the Dutchclub has been organizing Dutch lessons for primary school students for whom Dutch is a second language. Our goal is to expand basic vocabulary and boost speaking confidence through playful learning. Especially for multilingual preschoolers (ECE/VVE, early childhood education) and newcomers in Dutch, the Dutchclub has developed special materials used both at school and at home. The Basic Word List for Amsterdam Preschoolers (BAK-list) serves as the foundation for these lessons. The teaching package includes 12 themes for a full school year of language lessons. Each theme box contains a picture book, word cards, songs, games, creative activities, and clear instructions. It also includes a full year of free access to the online Dutchclub platform with video lessons and extra games. And 25 parent license to continue practicing together at home and to increase parental involvement.
Each theme box contains clear instruction cards for the games and (creative) activities and is ready to use right away. A sustainable alternative to the constant cycle of searching, printing, cutting, and pasting for every new theme.
The tasks and games can be played together with the teacher, teaching assistant, reading volunteers, or even with older student buddies.
The Dutchclub teaching package aligns well with the Improving Core Skills subsidy program, which focuses on strengthening basic vocabulary in early childhood education (ECE).
Upon request, a brief on-site workshop about the background of the Dutchclub lesson package can be provided. For example, during a professional development day focused on NT2 (Dutch as a second language), multilingualism, and preschoolers. During this session, there will be time to try out the materials and to exchange ideas about working with multilingual students in the classroom. It is also possible to explain more about vocabulary lessons for newcomer students. We are happy to tailor our support to your specific needs.
